  2. Don’t go barefoot in public. Fungus can be present in the environment, especially in damp, warm places. It can also spread from person to person. Places like public pools, showers, and gym locker rooms are the most common places to find fungus. Make sure to wear flip flops or some kind of foot wear to protect your feet and toes from the fungus that might be lurking on the floors.
  3. Wear the right shoes. Shoes that are too tight can cause trauma to the nails. Too much pressure on the toes may crack or move the nail around creating space between the nail plate and the nail bed. The spaces or cracks caused by the repeated trauma on the nails gives room for fungus to grow. Make sure to wear the correct size of shoe too prevent the fungus infecting your nails.
